Do side effects ease over time?
Usually, the leaflets say, for the stomach ones. Mounjaro’s says feeling sick, diarrhoea and being sick decrease over time in most patients. Ozempic’s and Rybelsus’s say feeling sick and diarrhoea usually go away over time, and Wegovy’s says so of its very common side effects. None gives a timescale.

Meanwhile
On stopping
The NHS says keep taking your medicine unless you’re advised to stop, and talk to your doctor if you want to stop.
If one bothers you
If a side effect bothers you or doesn’t go away, the NHS says a pharmacist or doctor may give advice on how to reduce it.
Usually not severe
Mounjaro’s leaflet says feeling sick, diarrhoea and being sick are usually not severe, and decrease over time for most.
Fluids
The Mounjaro, Wegovy, Ozempic and Rybelsus leaflets say these can dehydrate you, so drink fluids to prevent it.
Questions
How long until they ease?
The leaflets don’t say. Mounjaro’s says they are most common when first starting; the others say they usually go away over time.
What if one doesn’t go away?
The NHS says speak to a pharmacist or doctor if you have any side effects that bother you or do not go away.
Which ones need help straight away?
The NHS lists serious ones, such as an inflamed pancreas, which can cause severe pain in your stomach or back that does not go away, and says call 111 if you think you might be having one. Our side effects guide has the list.
Side effects
See whether a side effect is easing.
Each check-in asks “Any side effects currently?” Side Effects counts the days you felt each one over 7, 30 or 90 days, so you can compare a recent week with the month.
